The Magnificent Cliffs project comprises six luxury villas located on a steep, forested coastal site in Dubrovnik. The architecture is conceived as a contemporary ensemble that cascades along the cliffs, emphasizing a strong relationship between architectural expression, natural topography, and unobstructed sea views.

Concept and context

The project was developed as a cohesive architectural composition that carefully responds to the highly sensitive natural context of steep terrain and dense Mediterranean vegetation. Each villa functions as an independent residential unit, while the overall masterplan ensures a harmonious visual identity and optimal orientation toward the sea. The cascading arrangement of volumes allows for uninterrupted views and minimizes the impact on the existing terrain.

Spatial organization

The villas are organized through clearly defined horizontal volumes that follow the natural configuration of the site. Main living areas are positioned along sea-facing façades and fully open through large glazed surfaces, creating a strong spatial continuity between interior and exterior spaces. Private zones are set deeper within the volumes or on upper levels, ensuring privacy, tranquility, and controlled exposure. Generous terraces, swimming pools, and outdoor platforms are integrated into the architectural structure and conceived as natural extensions of the interior living spaces.

Materials and architectural expression

The architectural language is defined by a combination of stone cladding, exposed concrete elements, and expansive glass surfaces. Stone, as the dominant material, establishes a strong connection to the local building tradition, while contemporary detailing and clean lines emphasize the modern character of the architecture. Horizontal cantilevers further highlight the cascading nature of the villas and reinforce their dialogue with the terrain.

Relationship with the landscape

The project places strong emphasis on preserving the natural environment. Existing vegetation is largely retained and incorporated into the landscape design, allowing the architecture to blend seamlessly into the surroundings. Swimming pools and terraces visually extend toward the sea horizon, reinforcing a sense of openness, exclusivity, and serenity.
