Architectural Concept
The concept of Villa Sumartin is based on dynamically articulated volumes that follow the natural contours of the terrain. The building is vertically organized across three levels, reinterpreting the conventional floor division so that the ground floor becomes the central social core, directly connected to views and outdoor spaces.
Massing and Spatial Organization
The villa is clearly structured across three levels: the ground floor functions as a communal zone with an open-plan layout oriented toward the sea; the intermediate level accommodates private rooms and supporting spaces; while the upper level hosts the main living area extending onto a covered terrace with panoramic views. This vertical layering enhances both privacy and spatial diversity. The spatial organization revolves around a central atrium dominated by a sculptural centuries-old olive tree. This atrium acts as the architectural focal point of the project, physically and visually connecting interior and exterior zones while establishing a symbolic link to the Mediterranean landscape.
Exterior Spaces and Amenities
Outdoor areas are conceived as a natural extension of the interior functions. An infinity pool overlooking the sea, a covered summer kitchen, a fireplace lounge area, and relaxation zones are arranged around the atrium, encouraging social interaction and outdoor living in harmony with the surroundings.
Materials and Visual Transparency
Floor-to-ceiling glazing and expansive glass walls create a strong visual connection with the landscape, while the interplay of solid and void elements generates a refined dialogue between stillness and dynamism. This approach results in spaces that are bright, airy, and visually open, yet intimate and comfortable.
