Architectural concept
The core concept is based on the sensitive reconstruction of the existing structure, with emphasis on improving spatial organization and establishing clear visual and functional relationships between different zones. The project redefines the relationship between solid and void, enclosed and open spaces, creating a dynamic composition that highlights light, proportion, and the connection to the surrounding environment.
Exterior – contemporary reinterpretation of a Mediterranean villa
The exterior is characterized by a balance between traditional proportions and contemporary architectural expression. The building’s volumetry remains clear and well-defined, while the rhythm of openings and the refined façade treatment establish a renewed visual identity. Large glazed surfaces and generous terraces are fully integrated into the architectural composition, ensuring maximum interaction with the surroundings and natural daylight. At the same time, solid volumes and shaded areas create intimate and protected outdoor spaces suited to the Mediterranean lifestyle. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the plasticity of the façade, while horizontal and vertical lines articulate a clear and contemporary architectural language.
Interior – spatial clarity and quality of living
The interior spaces have been reorganized to create a logical and fluid spatial sequence. Living areas are designed as open, light-filled environments that naturally connect with one another, while private zones are clearly defined to ensure the necessary level of privacy. Expansive glazing allows abundant natural light and establishes a continuous visual connection with outdoor areas. This approach enhances the sense of openness and fluidity while reinforcing the Mediterranean character of living. Materials and finishes are carefully selected to achieve a balance between warmth and contemporary clarity. The combination of natural tones, refined textures, and minimalist detailing creates a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere.
Interior-exterior relationship
A key element of the project is the strong and continuous connection between interior and exterior spaces. Terraces, balconies, and large glass openings enable a seamless transition between inside and outside, blurring boundaries and creating a unified spatial experience. This spatial organization encourages outdoor living and ensures full integration of the villa within the Mediterranean context of Split.
Materials and finishes
The material palette is based on a combination of glass, metal, and natural finishes, resulting in a contemporary yet contextually responsive architectural expression. The selection of materials and colors is carefully aligned with the local environment, ensuring durability, elegance, and architectural clarity.
